Once you’ve scored a Google grant, the tricky part is maintaining eligibility and reaching your strategic, measurable digital advertising goals.

By now, almost everyone has heard of the Google Ad Grant Program.  It gives nonprofits the chance to advertise on Google Ads at no media cost to the nonprofit.

This program gives qualified organizations up to $10,000 per month in Google Ads spend (advertising budget) to be used to promote your mission on Google.com. To qualify, charities must go through the application process, and to keep the grant they must follow the program details.

Before you apply, make sure your nonprofit is eligible. Here are some of the qualifications:

To be eligible for Google Grants an organization must:

·      Hold current and valid 501(c)(3) charity status

·      Acknowledge and agree to Google Grant’s required certifications regarding how to receive and use donations obtained from the grant

·      Have a website that is both functioning and provides adequate detail on your nonprofit

What’s included in Google Ad Grants?

·      Up to $10,000 per month of in-kind advertising dollars to spend on pay-per-click advertising

·      PPC ads are text-only and only run on Google.com

·      Access to the full Google Adwords platform to manage and measure your campaigns

How to Maintain Eligibility for Your Google Ad Grant

Great, but once you’ve scored a Google grant, the tricky part is maintaining eligibility and reaching your strategic, measurable digital advertising goals.

So, how do you maintain eligibility?

Google Ad Grants accounts must maintain a minimum 5% click-through-rate (CTR) in order for their Ads account to remain active. Google Ad Grants account users cannot miss that threshold for more than two consecutive months or their account will be suspended. Google will notify any user that is at risk of having their account deactivated and will provide educational materials and tips to get users back on track.

That’s why you should consider hiring a knowledgeable agency partner to help you—

not only comply with the rules—but more importantly, to succeed in reaching your digital advertising goals.
