Most organizations are not well served by using a cookie-cutter approach to fundraising.

Many smaller organizations have contacted us looking for a simple, low-cost cookie-cutter solution to their meet their direct response fundraising goals.

While there are a few cost-effective syndicated programs that can work for certain types of charities, most organizations are not well served by using a cookie-cutter approach to fundraising.

Yes, of course, common best practices are widely used to improve direct response strategies and tactics, but you should never lose focus on communicating your own best case for support, and your own unique stories.

Nothing is more powerful than illustrating to donors—in a clear, believable, memorable way—the impact they can make by supporting you.

Copying another organization’s fundraising approach and just changing the name of the organization rarely works for most organizations.

The donor wants to know why they should support you and what impact it will make?  And telling a true success story about the impact of your work is the best way to provide donors with a memorable motivation to act.

Many organizations focus primarily on what they do and how they do it.  But donors are more motivated by why you do it.  Lead with your “why.”   Tell the donor a story that answers these two key motivating questions:  1. Why should I support you? 2. Why now?

While the answers to these questions may have similarities with other organizations doing similar work, you need to present an answer that is unique to your own “why.”  Telling your own, emotional, true stories. These stories are not only more believable; they are always uniquely yours.
